A graduate of Antwerp’s prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Van Noten was part of the Antwerp Six, an influential avant-garde group of designers taught at the Academy that also included Ann Demeulemeester and Dirk Bikkembergs. In 1986, Van Noten launched his first collection that was immediately bought exclusively by Barneys in the U.S.
