Bertrand Duchaufour's creative process follows two fundamental principals; firstly, he believes that balance is achieved when opposites attract, like yin and yang. Secondly, nothing is lost nor is created, everything is transformed. He distorts and deconstructs nature, playing with contrasts such as vegetal and animalic notes. Bertrand is a veteran perfumer for L'Artisan.
Poivre Piquant is inspired by a wedding story in the Kama Sutra. Sugar and pepper were sprinkled on the bride's wedding veil. Sugar for the sweetness of life, pepper for the sparkling joy (and sensuality) to come. Notes of white pepper, milk and honey.

In 1976 Paris, perfumer-chemist Jean Laporte carved a niche in the fragrance industry by combining uncommon elements to build avant-garde perfumes. Pairing unexpected notes like absinthe, hay, and peppercorn with classic florals and musks, Laporte and his team of talented noses created a new genre of fragrances designed to evoke memories, senses, and emotions. Constantly evolving, L’Artisan Parfumeur's award-winning and innovative scents consistently enchant and intrigue global tastemakers.
